Campus Showcase
Coming January 2021

Picture
Penn State’s campus is a busy and bustling place, with over 40,000 students heading to class and in and out of scores of buildings on a normal weekday. Sometimes, when wrapped up in our own lives, it is easy to forget about Penn State’s storied past and traditions, even though every single spot on campus has its own unique place in Penn State history. That’s where Campus Showcase comes in.

Campus Showcase is an event designed to highlight a different area of campus each year, and incorporates the location’s history and tradition with good food, activities, and music in addition to tours that educate guests on the selected campus landmark. The first Campus Showcase spotlighted University House and the Hintz Family Alumni Center. Lion Ambassadors presented live tours featuring past presidents, their families, and other important university leaders. Those outside waiting for tours were able to enjoy a fall-themed festival.

Founder's Day
Coming February 2021

Picture
Over a century ago, on February 22, 1855, Penn State was founded as an institution of higher education. Now every year in February, the Lion Ambassadors lead the university in celebrating Penn State’s birthday at an event called Founder’s Day. From its beginning as the Farmers’ High School of Pennsylvania to growing to its modern form as the Pennsylvania State University, Penn State has a lot to celebrate!

Founder’s Day includes a celebration in the HUB full of music, entertainment, and free food. Activities are also planned that incorporate stories of Penn State’s humble beginnings. Recently, Founder’s Day has partnered with the Student Programming Association (SPA) to bring a free concert to students at University Park during the week of Penn State’s birthday. With bands like Fun. and Imagine Dragons performing in the past, SPA has helped make Founder’s Day an even more exciting event!

Old Main Open House
Coming April 2021

Picture
Take a step back in time and gain a greater understanding of Penn State’s most iconic building-Old Main! Every spring semester, the building that was originally the entirety of Penn State’s campus comes alive to tell the story of Penn State’s history.

Lion Ambassadors conduct tours throughout Old Main, where visitors encounter special guests, including past presidents and other characters who help describe the history of the building. Meanwhile, Lion Ambassador tour guides explain what the building and offices are used for today, showing just how far Penn State has come since its founding!

Enjoy food, entertainment, and activities and gain a greater appreciation for the building that is a symbol of Dear Old State.

Senior Send-Off
Coming April 2021

Picture
After four years at Penn State, a new class of seniors say goodbye to the school that they have come to love every spring semester. To commemorate such a momentous occasion, the Penn State Lion Ambassadors hold University Wide Senior Send-Off outside of the Hintz Family Alumni Center every year, where seniors can celebrate their successes.

University Wide Senior Send-Off is always a bustling and exciting event, and the Hintz and its Alumni Courtyard are filled with people enjoying good food, activities, and entertainment honoring the seniors just prior to their graduation. Guest speakers often give final farewells to the graduating class, and the Penn State Alumni Association is there to show students the benefits of making a lifelong commitment to Penn State.
