Founded in 1855, Penn State has grown from its historic origins to become a world-class institution. Each February, Lion Ambassadors commemorates the University’s proud beginnings with Founders’ Day, a special event that celebrates Penn State’s founding and enduring impact. This annual tradition brings together students, alumni, faculty, and community members to honor the history, achievements, and spirit of Penn State.

The celebration features historical exhibits and engaging events that highlight Penn State’s evolution from its origins in 1855 to its role today as a world-class educational and research institution. Through interactive displays and educational activities, Founders’ Day offers a deeper understanding of Penn State’s journey and the people and ideas that have shaped it.
