S-Zone
Born in 1998.
Featured on national TV, the S-Zone has remained an iconic spectacle of Penn State’s student section. During every home football game, Lion Ambassadors lead a cheering section of 800 students, coordinating special t-shirts to create an “S” which is visible from any part in or above the stadium.
Shoutout to our sister organization, the Blue and White Society who help spark school spirit by sharing shakers to fans as they enter the gates of Beaver Stadium.
While the classic blue and white remains a staple, sometimes we switch it up!
We are proud to partner with Penn State THON™ each year to add a ribbon alongside our “S” for the THON game.
Every year for the Homecoming game, we sport Penn State’s original school colors; Pink & Black!

Evolution of Game Day Traditions
-
Stadium Balloon Project
The first game day tradition hosted by the Lion Ambassadors. Hundreds of balloons were set off at kickoff to raise money for Penn State clubs.
-
Cardblock
In the late 80’s, Lion Ambassadors begin to make the S-Zone as a cardblock before moving to using t-shirts.
-
