A Snapshot of Lion Ambassadors

Mission

Lion Ambassadors communicate Penn State’s history and personality, strengthen University traditions, and instill Penn State pride in current and future students, alumni, and friends. We strive to foster the idea that involvement with Penn State is a lifelong commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Estimated time spent each week: Minimum of 3 hours per week

  • Attend general body and project planning meetings once per week

  • Lead a minimum of 1 tour per month for prospective students and alumni

  • Give private tours and attend special events hosted by the Penn State Alumni Association

  • Complete semesterly initiatives focused on service, DEI, and professional development

  • Abide by Penn State’s Student Code of Conduct and the Lion Ambassadors’ Standards of Excellence

First Semester Training Requirements

  • Estimated time spent each week: Between 5-7 hours required per week

  • Participate in New Member Welcome Event

  • Attend 6 weeks of New Member Education sessions on the following topics:

    • Introduction to Lion Ambassadors

    • Professional Development

    • Touring with Admissions

    • Event Planning

    • Serving as an Ambassador

    • Exam & Conclusion

      • All New Members are required to complete and pass an assessment at the conclusion of New Member Education

Qualifications

  • Maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA

  • Must be in at least your 3rd semester and a full-time student to apply

  • Must be on campus at University Park for the Spring of 2024 semester

  • Able to commit at least 3 semesters to the organization

Interest candidates should demonstrate qualities of direct communication, intentional leadership, critical thinking, time management, integrity, and community and campus involvement. Candidates should also value diversity, equity, and inclusion while exhibiting a growth mindset.

Application Process

There are 2 steps to the application process: written and in-person interview

  • Saturday, December16th at 11:59 PM: Deadline for written applications

  • Sunday, January 7th: Applicants notified about their application status.

  • Monday, January 8th - Friday, January 12th: Applicants who receive an interview will participate in 2 in-person, 15 minute interviews during the first week of the Spring 2024 semester.
